Falling Leaves

Just as Spring has arrived I'm in the mood to make a new quilt that represents Autumn, I guess I can call it my new leaves for Spring quilt. I'm making 2 of these gorgeous quilts with all  my fig tree fabrics in my scrap bucket.
These are the bigger leaves which of course will make a bigger quilt, there are 24 blocks in the quilt but i think I'll make a few more and make it for my bed.

Then there are these babies, aren't they adorable. This is for a mini quilt. Only 9 leaves needed for this one. I finished them off this afternoon so during the week I'll make my new mini quilt.
These new patterns are from the Fig tree web site, Joanna has some beautiful new designs.
Speaking of new, yesterday I got some new fabrics, oh I have been waiting for these darling bundles  since I first saw them on Instagram,   This one is Vintage Picnic by the famous Bonnie & Camille. There are some very pretty prints in this range.
And I got a bundle of Strawberry Fields revisited by Fig tree, these fabrics are beautiful and this maybe my most favourite range yet, the colours are so soft and pretty. I can't wait to cut into these, I have a pattern all picked out ready.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and you found some sewing time.
Thankyou for stopping by.

Something New

During the week I received a wonderful package all the way from my lovely friend Cynthia in California. She made me the most cutest mini quilt. Full of colour and beautiful fabrics.

Beautifully quilted to. Look at those pebbles.
It looks stunning with the black and white binding.
Cynthia also made me this lovely little dilly bag, the fabric reminds me of the vintage era. I love it. It was full of treats and pretty papers. Thankyou so much dear friend, I shall treasure these always.
A little while ago I got a fat quarter bundle of Hello Darling by Bonnie & Camille. It sat there for ages just waiting for a project, then finally I found something I wanted to make. I have admired these orange peel quilts for ages but never really had the desire to make one until I came across a free pattern on the blog of Little Miss Shabby.  Its such a pretty quilt and just perfect for these fabrics.
The orange peel pieces  are supposed to be fused on but I thought needle turn would look nicer so thats what I'm doing, I spent 2 hours last night tacking each piece to the freezer paper. It was quite relaxing. So I'm looking foreward to working on this new project.
With Spring in full swing I had to share some pics of my crab apple blossoms, they are so beautiful, This tree is just outside my sewing room and when the door is open you can hear the bees buzzing around.

All my tulips are in bloom, they are so  elegant.
And my iris are looking pretty awesome to. Yesterday hubby and planted lots more flower seeds so I can't wait for those to start growing. I do love the garden this time of year.

Have a wonderful Sunday and I  hope you find some  sewing time.

Special People

Good Morning on this absolutely beautiful Spring morning, its supposed to be 20 degrees in Tassie today,  Lets hope it gets there. I am longing for some warm weather. Its been quite a week for me, the postman has delivered me lots of wonderful packages from near and afar. Through my blog I have met the most amazing people, And I'm happy to say we have become very good friends. Last year I became friends with Janita. She is the loveliest lady, we decided to do a little swap with each other.
Janita knows how much I love my Americana so she surprised me with the most beautiful gifts, the flag quilt  is so special, as its a military flag and as my son has just joined the Military it has a very special meaning. Even he was touched at just how thoughtful this gift is.
I love my new pincushion, the colours are perfect and I adore that little flag square in the middle.  Thankyou my dear friend for your thoughtfulness, your gifts are beautiful and I will treasure them always.
Another special friend is Christine, I received these beautiful gifts made especially for me from Tilda fabric. Christine and I both love Tilda fabric so when we  make gifts for each other  I think we both have the same idea. Can't go wrong with this fabric is so beautiful.
Thankyou Christine, You are such a lovely friend.
Another lovely friend sent me this cute mug, now Kim and I have been friends  since my cross stitch days, way back about 13 years ago. We met on line and Kim lives in England, she has watched my boys grow from toddlers to teengers. We email each other almost every day, just to say hi and see how each of us is going. Its a very special friendship and even though we have never met in person I feel like I have known her all my life.
Yesterday morning I was up early getting the last border  on my fig tree quilt, Oh I love how this turned out. Made entirely from my  scrap box except the border.

Its at the quilters already as I can't wait to get this one finished and use it for Spring.
Now I have started a new project, I love it already. I'll be back next week with hopefully lots of progress.

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are today. Thanks for stopping by.
