Shopping & Sewing

I was up at the crack of dawn this morning, it has been really hot here in Tassie the last few days and I couldn't sleep, laying in bed I thought if i get up now I could do some sewing. Then I thought ... if I get up now I could head to Kmart which is open 24 hours a day and do the rest of my Christmas shopping, so thats what I did. I wasn't the only one there either, While I was shopping I found a few things that I just loved so of course I bought those to, You   know that feeling when you get home and think oh I wish I had bought that, well thats how I felt when I saw these pretties but I bought them straight away. I do love a good cup of tea and this little box was so cute, with tea bags and jams inside. What got me was the bird tea infuser.
I also found this really cute mason jar that doubles as measuring cups. I love these. Now I'm thinking I should have bought two.

I have been slowly working on these Nested Churn dash blocks, now all my Christmas sewing is done I can work on something for me. I have a couple of weeks holidays over Christmas so I plan to sew more of these. They finish at 24 inches so quite big. I'm thinking I'll make 9 and then decide if I should keep going.
They are so much fun to make. I am using all my Kansas troubles fabrics. This quilt will be perfect for winter. I love the warm colours of these fabrucs.

I tried my  latest quilt  finish on my bed and I think it will look  really nice in my bedroom, now I am motivated to get the binding on. Another job for my holidays.

So are you all ready for Christmas. We just about are.

Enjoy your day and thankyou for stopping by.

A New Week

Here we are another week closer to Christmas? Are you almost organised. I'm happy to say that I am. Just a few gifts to post tomorrow and I'm done.
I wanted to share a few of my christmas treasures with you all. I'm sure we all have our favourite ornaments and decorations we like to bring out each year. These are some of mine.

My dear friend Jo made me this ornament, it has traveled a very long way to get here.
These are some gifts I received in the Instagram Aussie Christmas swap, So pretty. Thankyou to my partner.
Yesterday I spent a couple of hours making these fabric bon bons for my co workers, I have filled them up with treats. I love using up fabrics from my stash.

Saturday I collected my quilt from Sarah, oh the quilting is amazing. I love the feel and the look of the whole design. This quilt is for my bed so I had better forget the fact that I don't really like binding and get a move on with it.

Only 7 work days left for me and I'm on Christmas holidays. I can't wait. I have so much sewing planned.

Have a wonderful week and thankyou for stopping by. xx

New designs and a cover page

Yesterday I had a bit of a crafty day, doing little projects I have wanted to do for ages but never took the time to do, Here is one of them, I repainted my cross stitch frame and I love how it came out. Looking back at it I was wondering why on earth I chose to paint it gold all those years ago. Its funny how our tastes change as we get older.
So now its a pretty aqua, I sanded it back gently to give it a bit of worn look. Now I have a question for you, the painted finish  is very dull and I would like it to have a gentle shine so what can I use to make this happen, do I need to seal it?  I think it would a whole nicer if it had a professional finish. Any help would be great.

In more exciting news from the Land of Lizzie the Quilter, My latest design has landed on the cover of the latest issue of Homespun Magazine. My Magazine arrived on Friday and boy was I excited when I opened it and saw my design staring right at me.
My project is a pouch and actually the magazine have photographed the back of the design  but is fine but i think the front is much prettier.

Tiny little dresden blocks in my favourite fig tree fabrics. I loved making this project.

Beautiful photography as always.

Thankyou Homespun magazine you have made me so very happy and thankyou to all of you for reading my blog every week and giving me such encouraging comments.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
