Sunday sewing.

We have had such glorious weather this weekend it was hard to stay inside and sew, but I did manage a little bit. I made this new cushion for our sofa in the lounge, all in French General fabric and printed linen, I thought it turned out pretty well and it matches my quilt just perfectly.
I used a charm pack for the middle and just cut it up into sections and chose my favourite prints.
Here is the back, complete with button holes that I did on my sewing machine for the very first time.  I was very impressed with myself. The buttons look better for real than in the photo.

I have also nearly finished  the last block of Sweetheart houses. Hooray. I'll be glad when this quilt is all done.
I also spent lots of time last night on this stitchery by Helen Stubbings but I have ran out of thread. Have to wait til I get some more.

How did you spend your Sunday? I'm going to do some baking now for school lunch boxes. Have a great day.

Seeing stars and making buntings.

What a busy week  its been around my house. Number 1 son Daniel got a part time job at Coles so he had his first shift on Wednesday night, Number 2 son got a part time at McDonalds so we have been helping him do all the on line training he has to complete before he does his first real shift. He is really excited and can't wait to start. Of course we are thrilled for both of them, Finally I won't have my wallet out all the time handing out cash. lol. Number 3 son got sick with a cold and kindly shared it with me so I have been laying low all weekend, I did find some energy to do little bit of sewing. I started a new project a few days ago and I have  been  sewing  different size star blocks . The one above is 4 1/2 inches and so cute.
I'm using all my Bonnie and Camille  fabrics, even found a few scraps of Bliss. I don't have much left now.
I'm making this quilt  by Leanne Beasley but I have changed it a little bit,. I'll share more as I progress. I am really enjoying the stitchery part.  Its long though, one side is 48 inches.  Thats alot of stitching to get through.

I also made a tilda bunting. You all know how much I adore tilda so I cut into my beautiful fabrics and made this for my sewing room. I love the tilda sitchery , it was quick to do.

Today I think I'm going to try and sew a bit more and maybe even make time to watch a movie with my stitching in hand.

Have a wonderful day.

Happy mothers day

I made this pincushion for Barb, my partner in the Lets celebrate swap.  Ran by lovely Karen at Mrs Martins quilt shop.
I designed the pin cushion and added the Gail Pann stitchery. it was such a fun project to do. I hope you like it Barb. I also sent Barb some fabrics and buttons but I forgot to take a photo of them. You can see them at Barb's blog.
Barb sent me this beautiful package wrapped in Tilda fabric, I was excited right from the start after I saw the fabric.
Inside were these lovely goodies, fat quarters, buttons in the most pretty colours, cosmo threads and a quilt pattern.

A nice treat is the yummy chocolates, mars bars for the boys and time out for me, perfect. Thankyou Barb, I love everything you sent me.

My beautiful family gave me an iphone. It was a great moment, they sat my down at the kitchen table and all the boys including hubby had a smirk on their faces, I'm thinking what on earth have they bought for me. I had to shut my eyes and then when I opened them there was a Dick Smith bag in front of me. As soon as I saw that I knew what it was.  I have been talking about iphones for awhile now so it was a wonderful surprise. I love you guys, thankyou.

Happy mothers day to all mums out there, I hope you have a wonderful day with the ones you love.

Friday night sewing results and a sewing day

Last night I finally got the binding attached  to my Scrappy trip around the world quilt, this has been sitting there waiting for some attention for quite some time.

I also prepared this cute little stitching  pin cushion, then of course just had to stitch some of it.
Today I went to the George Town Friendship day, it was such a good day, what can be better than sitting with a lovely group of ladies, doing your sewing and chatting about the one thing we all have in common.
Roseanne and Sue were busy stitching,
Desserts were just scrumptious,

I didn't get alot of stitching done, I got half of the binding hand stitched down on my quilt. I was too busy catching up with friends old and new.
Thank you Katharine and Erica for your company, I had a great day.

Autumn tilda's

Autumn is such a pretty time of year with all the leaves on the trees changing colour and that real nip in the air to say winter is just around the corner. We had a taste of winter this morning with a thick frost and a temperature of -1 degree. It was chilly.
On my walk I collected a few autumn leaves that were just so lovely so I bought them home for a photo shoot with my tilda girls.
I'll  let the pictures speak for themselves.

Yesterday afternoon we had a massive hail storm, it looked  just like snow, here is my neighbours  roof.
I actually got this photo  of the hail as it was falling. I love my new camera.
Here is my model Daniel in the rain with a few hail stones, you can see them all on the grass as well, they were everywhere.
Afterwards there was the prettiest rainbow.

Right, now I had better forget about Autumn leaves and do some sewing. Have a lovely evening.
