Christmas gifts

Well Christmas is over for another year, it comes around so quickly then its over in the blink of an eye. My parents came to visit us for a few days just before christmas, We had a lovely time with them.
Mum hadn't seen my boys for quite some time so of course they had grown ALOT. I'm sure its all that wonderful baking I do for them every week. lol
I received some beautiful gifts, My on line stitching group has a secret santa every year and this year Sarah was my santa.  Wow is what I said every time I opened a gift from Sarah, she made me some beautiful goodies, Look at the gorgeous tilda purse. I plan to use it for my tea bags, I only drink decaf tea so I tend to take tea bags with me wherever I go. They will be stylish won't they.

Sarah made me this sweet spools mini quilt and included some much loved tilda treats. I can't wait to cut into those charm squares.
That little clam shell is just the cutest.
All these goodies were tucked into this amazing bag, Its designed by Bonnie of Cotton way and its for all my sewing goodies on the go. When I go to sewing days I can keep my projects in it. I LOVE it.
Sarah even made the cutest zipper pull with my initial.
Sarah sure did spoil me, thankyou so much my friend, you made my christmas even more special. xx
I also joined Chookyblues secret santa and my gift was sent all the way from Norway, My partner was Laila and she made me a beautiful mini quilt called Norway. Its beautifully made in Tilda fabrics, Laila also sent some pretty tilda fabrics and buttons and thread.
Thankyou so much Laila, everything is so lovely.
oops this photos wasn't supposed to be last but its here now as I don't know how to fix it and my in house  I.T.  son is busy. Its the inside of the beautiful bag when you open the zippers, there is clear pouch and a pin cushion, thats under all the ribbon. Such a clever idea.

Well thats a few of my christmas gifts, I hope you all had a wonderful  Christmas.

Take care.  xx

Christmas fun has started.

Only 2 more work days left and I'm on holidays. I can't wait, I have so much sewing planned. I have made a head start on a new design using some Tilda hexagons. I loved my blue tilda cushion I made with squares so I thought I'd  make something similar with these pretty hexagons.
I really love the fussy cut tea cup fabrics, these fit in the hexagon just perfect.
My on line stitching group I belong to has a secret santa advent swap every year, I still have no idea who my partner is, My gifts are beautiful so far. Todays gift is a cute owl tea infuser and some Melbourne tea. Can't wait to try it out.
Yesterday I got the cutest sewing machine stitchery and a bobbin case.
Here are the rest, all beautifully wrapped,
My parents are here visiting us for a few days so yesterday we had an early Christmas Day together. Last night we had a beautiful roast turkey dinner and glazed ham. Good old mum is a great cook, These are the gifts I made for mum, a pot holder and a mug rug. Mum wasn't sure what a mug is so after I explained it she was quite happy with her new mat.
Today is dad's birthday so we are off for a BBQ at the local park and a good old fashioned game of family cricket.

Have a wonderful day. Hope you find some sewing time.

A bit of everything today

Not long now til Christmas, are you almost ready. I think we are. I'm having an early Christmas celebration next Saturday with my parents, they are coming over for a flying visit for 4 days so I thought as we won't see them on Christmas day we could have it early. I have to work all next week so in between household chores and sewing  I have been cooking meals and doing lots of baking.
My hexagon table runner is home from Homespun Magazine, I have missed it. I sent it away back in May. Now it can rest on my kitchen table for awhile.

I enjoyed making each and every stitchery on this project, they turned out so cute.

I came across an old UFO in the cupboard so I am in the mood to work on that for a little while, I still have 3 stitcheries to go but I thought I could put together what I have finished.
Its a 1950's quilt pattern from Orange Daisy. All the stitcheries are 1950's ladies doing their thing.
Thursday night we had Jacob's grade 10 leavers dinner, he was so excited. He looks so handsome all dressed up. Of course i had to get a photo with him, he is the only son who likes getting his photo taken with his mum and dad. The other 2 grumble whenever I mention the word photo.
This is Jacob and his partner for the evening Abby, she is a lovely girl, The flash car behind them was their transport to the venue.
 Jacob and his dad.
Jacob and Abby,  don't they look lovely. We had  to get a tie that matched Abby's dress and finally after  lots of looking we found the perfect colour.
They both had a great evening.
Not long now and school will be over for another year. This year has gone so fast.
I have been at my new job for almost 12 months now. I enjoy it alot.
I am looking foreward to a little break after christmas though. I have lots of sewing I want to do.

Well  the buzzer just went off for the oven  so I had better say goodbye , Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thankyou for stopping by.

Sunday sewing

I am getting so much sewing done this weekend and I love it, Its "just for me " sewing as I'm happy to say all my christmas  gifts are made and most have been posted already so I grabbed my christmas scraps out of my stash and I'm having a lovely time.  I want to make a couple of big christmas pillows for the lounge so I started on some little economy blocks. I think I need 16 to make a decent size,  the blocks finish at 5 1/2 inches each.
I also had this square of fabric from Kate Spain's range in from the Cold so I'm using that as a centre piece for another pillow. Its too nice to cut into.
Yesterday while I was sorting through  my stash I came across my tilda fabrics, I love the softness of Tilda, its so pretty and delicate so I thought I'd cut up some 2 1/2 inch squares and throw them altogether and make a table runner, when I had sewn them into a square shape I changed my mind about the runner and thought they looked nicer as a cushion.
I added the binding so make it look a bit fancier, I love it.
Summer is upon us but today  is cool and so windy, I was looking at my precious liliums and the wind has knocked them around a little bit but they still look so pretty. Just had to share a few pics with you. You all know how much I love my garden. Hope youre not sick of seeing it.

 My first lupin flower.
The first cornflower, I hope there will all different colours when they flower.
Ok, its back to sewing a nice cup of English Breakfast tea, We went to K Kart this morning and I was looking at  all their new stocking stuffers, I'm a sucker for a nice box so I had to buy the tea and  it came with the tea thingy. ( I'm not sure what its called ) I told my boys its like a tea bag. They just looked at me as if I was crazy.

Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy your christmas sewing.

Christmas Decorating

Yesterday we decided to set up our christmas tree, its always fun getting the christmas box out. Looking at all our ornaments and remembering when the boys were little and the ornaments they made at school. When our boys had their first christmas we bought them their own ornament, I have other beautiful decorations I have received as gifts and in swaps  over the years.
I hung up my one of my christmas quilts in the hall way, its quite festive now with a few knicks knacks here and there.

During the week I received my secret santa gifts from Chooky blues christmas swap, Look at the sweet tag. My gifts have come all the way from Norway.
Laila from Jacobs quilt blog sent my gifts.
Thankyou so much Laila, look at my cute owl ornament, and its made from tilda fabrics, my absolute favourites. The rest are safe under the tree now until Christmas day.

Have you started your Christmas decorating yet?

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Its all about RED

I love this time of year, each day gets just that little bit warmer and Christmas is just around the corner. My boys are winding down for the end of another school year, the eldest has finished already so he is hoping to pick up a few extra shifts at his part time job to fill in the holidays.
I have been doing quite a bit of sewing, most of it for christmas gifts and swaps so I can't share much  just yet. I have finished 2 beautiful ornaments that are designed by marg Lowe, the buttons are beautiful and really make the design,
 This one is my favourite.
I have a new candle holder that I got from Coles Supermarket, it looks pretty at night when its all lit up.
I have my red Greengate dishes on display for the festive season.
And I finally finished my Nat Bird Tis the season quilt. Its hanging up in the lounge.

 I love this little quilt,
Will you forgive me if I share just a few more garden pics. I hope youre not bored with them yet.

My sweet peas look so pretty, so many colours and the smell is divine.
My new garden area is doing so well, all the seeds are growing well and the area is filling up nicely, I can't wait for the big display of Zinnias, gladioli and cosmos. Its going to look amazing.

Have a wonderful week, hope you find some sewing time. Are you thinking about Christmas yet?
