Cross stitch & Liberty

I have had another fun weekend in my sewing room, the days go way too fast though. During the week I was looking through my trunk that basically has stuff in it that I'm not using . I was looking for some threads when I found these jar cover  cross stitch pieces that I made at least 10 years. I used to stitch all the time until I discovered quilting  then I slowly lost interest.
As these were all finished and just needed making up I have decided I must do just that. So now I'm deciding how I'll make them.
They are so sweet and as I just made lots of plum jam recently these will fit beautifully on my jars. I have dug into my Bonnie and Camille fabrics so they are sure to be pretty. This will be my job for this afternoon while the boys are watching the cricket.
I am a big fan of Instagram, if you are to you can find me at lizziethequilter. I joined a Liberty swap and my gifts are all ready to be wrapped.  I had such fun making them.

I will show you everything properly as soon as my gifts are received.  My partner doesn't know I'm making for her so I can share a little bit  now.
I loved making these lavender bags, of course  the lavender is from my Garden and smells beautiful.

Remember when I had heaps  of plums and I was cooking with them lots, well now we have 3 buckets full  of Granny smith apples so I'm looking for recipes to use them up, I have made apple crumble twice already this week, this morning I stewed a few so I can make muffins.
Any ideas on what else I can use the apples for? I'd love to read your ideas or recipes.

Have a wonderful week ahead and I hope you find some sewing time.

A crafter always seems to have surprises stashed away and your cross stitch jar labels fit the bill nicely. Instagram, hey? That's picture only, no words? Wouldn't do me - Miss Have-a-chat! Hee hee. Your lavender bags a very pretty and your swap partner is in for a treat. Our favourite apple recipe is Butterscotch Apple Dumplings (from the Australian Women's Weekly). Have you tried making Applesauce or Apple Butter? I've also seen something on the net called Apple Cheese. Haven't a clue what it is though. I bet you could find a good apple chutney recipe that would be delicious with cold roast pork or ham.

I was a avid cross stitcher in another life too Leanne! I ran out of walls to hang all my pictures on! Your stitcheries will make great jar covers! And I am no cook, so I am no help with those apples!

So many of us started with cross stitch. They are beautiful little pieces which will look lovely on your jam jars.

I used to cross stitch I have some unfinished ones but it progresses so slowly. Sorry not sure what to do with the apples but I am sure you will come up with something yummy.

I love your projects and cross stitching is one of my favorite things to do. I love your cosmos flower and plum jam is my favorite. I love making apple sauce - my family just enjoy homemade so much and you can use in oatmeal, as a snack. I would also make apple jelly.

I used to cross stitch all the time, then I quit for many years, and now I'm back to it. Your little jar lids are adorable, and will work into cute gifts.
