A long weekend

I have had a wonderful weekend, Today is a public holiday so getting an extra day off is always a bonus, On Saturday I went to Lunch with a bunch of Ladies from Canada, they are here on a quilting tour, I had the best time and I have made a few new friends which is always wonderful.
I have done quite a lot of sewing, I made this cute little pouch from Little Red fabric by Moda, isn't it just darling. I think I'll use it to hold my threads for my stitching projects.
I have a thing for pouches, I made this stitchery one for a magazine now it holds my hexagons. I do love this one alot. It was so much fun to make.
Speaking of Magazines, I am so proud to share with you my profile which is featured in this months Patchwork & stitching magazine. Having my designs on the front cover is always a thrill but to see your name in print, well that's just amazing. I was so excited when I saw it.
The story tells my journey from when I first started sewing until now. It was fun to read. Hard to write about yourself I must admit but Stacey my editor did a beautiful job of recreating my words.

This stitchery cushion is my newest design which will be featured in the coming months.
I received some new fabric during the week, it so cute, Called Farm girl by Riley Blake, the colours are lovely and warm, now to think of a project.
I have been enjoying a new English paper piecing project called SMITTEN by Lucy Kingwell, its a fun project. I decided to make a USA version using my patriotic fabrics and as we are going there in just a few days I hope to buy a few new fabrics to add to my quilt. I love to make quilts that have some  meaning.
Have you seen these fantastic bobbins you can use for your EPP projects, they are polyester bottom line threads and so nice to sew with. They come in all colours so you can match them to your fabrics. I am slowly filling up my bobbin holder.

Well its time to get moving and do something productive on this public holiday, I have some sewing to get on with and of course finish packing for our trip.

Enjoy your day and I 'll  be back in a couple of weeks.

Girls Day Out

Last Sunday I headed to Hobart ear;y for a fun day of stitching with my best buddies. We went to spend the day with Helen Stubbings and Natalie Bird.
We had a great time, lots to look at and of course buy.
Natalie had some beautiful samples for us to admire, I love this bag.

I definitely want to make this bag to, I have this pattern and have always liked it but now I have seen the bag in person its moved up my To Do list. I just need to find some nice linen.

Helen had lots of pretty things to look at to, Her quilts are beautiful.
So many things to buy. I was good and only bought some cotton bobbins, I really didn't need anything. We had a wonderful day and it was lovely to just sit and stitch and talk with friends. I''ll share the projects we got for the day next week, I forgot to take a photo of them.
Yesterday I worked on a new magazine project and when I was satisfied I had done enough of that for one day I moved on to finish my Aeroplane Bag, I love how this tuned out, using the bag batting is difficult as its so stiff and hard to wrangle  in the sewing machine but I found if I took my time and sewed the seams with a bigger stitch length it worked quite well. I sewed over the same seam a couple of times just to reinforce it.
Now its ready to pack with goodies to take on our trip, only 11 sleeps to go. Yep.... I'm counting down.

Have a great day and thankyou for stopping by.
