Something New

During the week I received a wonderful package all the way from my lovely friend Cynthia in California. She made me the most cutest mini quilt. Full of colour and beautiful fabrics.

Beautifully quilted to. Look at those pebbles.
It looks stunning with the black and white binding.
Cynthia also made me this lovely little dilly bag, the fabric reminds me of the vintage era. I love it. It was full of treats and pretty papers. Thankyou so much dear friend, I shall treasure these always.
A little while ago I got a fat quarter bundle of Hello Darling by Bonnie & Camille. It sat there for ages just waiting for a project, then finally I found something I wanted to make. I have admired these orange peel quilts for ages but never really had the desire to make one until I came across a free pattern on the blog of Little Miss Shabby.  Its such a pretty quilt and just perfect for these fabrics.
The orange peel pieces  are supposed to be fused on but I thought needle turn would look nicer so thats what I'm doing, I spent 2 hours last night tacking each piece to the freezer paper. It was quite relaxing. So I'm looking foreward to working on this new project.
With Spring in full swing I had to share some pics of my crab apple blossoms, they are so beautiful, This tree is just outside my sewing room and when the door is open you can hear the bees buzzing around.

All my tulips are in bloom, they are so  elegant.
And my iris are looking pretty awesome to. Yesterday hubby and planted lots more flower seeds so I can't wait for those to start growing. I do love the garden this time of year.

Have a wonderful Sunday and I  hope you find some  sewing time.

Tulips are a favourite and that blossom is gorgeous. It's a special time of year for cool climate gardens like yours. Orange Peel quilts are on my radar too - especially after I saw the one at the quilt show which trimmed the peels in ric-rac. Cynthia has made has some really lovely gifts for you and I like the black binding on the little quilt.

Beautiful little quilt. I have seen that sweet little girl somewhere before. You have had the sweetest September with all your gifts in the mail. Some day I hope to make an orange peel quilt. Seeing your tulips blooming makes we wish it were spring here again. I spent the week changing out summer to fall so mostly finished with fall decorating. The sweater pumpkins are happy to be out of boxes again. Everything smells like pumpkin spice : )

A few more garden things to do to get everything ready for winter. Some how that doesn't sound as exciting as spring. Janita

The mini-quilt is wonderful with all those colours. Enjoy your garden now, when blossoms and tulips are blooming! Do there come birds in your garden? I always love spring when we hear the birds singing again, early in the morning. That's the real spring-feeling for me.
