Using my stash

When I look in my cupboards there is alot of fabric that I never seem to use so I thought it was about time to get it off the shelf and made into something fun and useful. I often buy fat quarters just because I like them, no plan or anything. I just think I'll use that some day. well yesterday while I was looking for something else I found this pretty fabric that I bought almost 2 years ago.
It was one of those "this is so cute fabric I just have to have" purchases, then it sat there for way too long, it was only one fat quarter so while I was ironing it I thought it would make a great zippy pouch. It was slightly too big for one pouch so I cut out a 2 large rectangles then used the smaller two pieces for a smaller pouch. They were fun and very quick to make.
I belong to  swap group on Instram and each month you need to send a small gift to your partner so I made these pretty lavender bags from my Liberty stash, they smell so good.
I also worked on a few christmas gifts using my stash, It feels really good to be using fabric that has just sat there for quite some time.
I plan on making these two blocks into mini quilts, I had good intentions to make this quilt which is a freebie from the fat quarter shop, but after 3 blocks I lost interest. I have way too many projects on the go so I thought it was time to move on and work on something else.
So its been a very productive "sew my stash" kind of weekend. If you dig deep enough into your cupboard you may find a few fabrics you forgot you had like I did.

Have a great day and thankyou for stopping by.

Halloween

Good Morning on this lovely sunny but cool Sunday morning, I hope you are all having a nice weekend. I know Halloween isn't really celebrated here in Australia but I love it and I enjoy decorating and making a few goodies just for me to enjoy. I recently got back into some cross stitch and made this little halloween pillow, it was really fun to do,
Then I made a mug rug, love this pumpkin fabric.

I enjoyed making the cross stitch pillow so much I decided to make another one, I just put the last stitch in last night so today I'll make it up. There are many free cross stitch patterns on the internet, I found these ones on Pinterest.
I got some scrapbook papers and made a little bunting. I love how this turned out.
I've also got some very cute pumpkin tea light candles,

Just a bit of fun for my family to enjoy.

I hope you find some sewing time today.

My new design

This post is all about Christmas. My  Christmas placemats is my newest design to be published in this months Patchwork & Stitching magazine.

I loved making these, when you are on a deadline  its hard to focus on anything else except the project you are working on, I stitched like crazy to get these done. While dinner was cooking, while I  was watching tv and even at 4am when I couldn't sleep, I would get up and sneak into the loungeroom to get some stitching done.

Of course they look amazing in the photos taken by the magazine, they always present my designs so beautifully.
This weekend I have started making  a few christmas gifts that need to be posted overseas so I need to get them extra early. I like to be organised and it makes me much more relaxed when I'm track.
My friend Cathy & I love Halloween, each year we give each other a small halloween gift, I made Cathy a basket, I thought it turned out super cute.

This morning I took a little stroll around my garden to see what has flowered recently. I have so many pretty flowers.

This little garden under the tree looks so pretty with lots of cottage type  flowers growing. When  they are finished I have glady's that will grow there in the summer.
I do love to potter outside, my vegies have started to grow now the weather has warmed up.

I hope you have had a lovely weekend and you found some sewing time, thankyou for stopping by.

Feeling Special

Its been an exciting week for me and my designs, I have had 2 very special designs published with Homespun Magazine.
First up is my Tilda Quilt,
I loved making this quilt, it was fun to cut up my fabrics and make them into such a pretty design. Of course I added some stitchery, after all  that is my  "thing"
The design is based on Spring, such soft lovely colours. I  love this quilt.

As usual the photography is amazing. The  Homespun team to an incredible job.
There is a little bit about me, I find this part really hard as I don't really like talking about myself, But I'm out there now so there is no turning back,
I also had a wonderful surprise to find one of other favourite designs published in Homespun's 2016 diary.
My project is on the pages on January, so now my friends you can call me Miss January. I am so excited and very honoured that they thought my project worthy enough to be in their diary.
Each page of January has a picture of my Hexagon table runner that I designed for the magazine last year.
So now I must climb down from Cloud 9 and get back to some serious sewing and cooking today.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you find some sewing time.
