Butterfly

Winter is here in full swing and its only the 3rd of June, its been a very cold  week and I know it will only get colder so I am enjoying some time sewing up a storm in my little sewing room. Recently I bought some pretty artificial poppies to brighten up my room, they are so real looking. Good old ebay, some times you can find some lovely things on there.
My sewing group and I decided to do a little mini quilt shop with each other, you may remember the baking mini I made for my partner, well this butterfly quilt is what I received from mine, Isn't it absolutely beautiful. My friend Katharine made it in my favourite Fig tree fabrics. I'm a very lucky girl to receive such an amazing quilt.

I've dug out the winter quilts and changed them around in my house, all our beds look so snuggly now.

What I love most about cold evenings is lighting a few candles to make the room look cosy.

Do you like winter?

Have a wonderful week and thankyou for stopping by.

It's kinda funny reading about getting ready for winter when it's still spring here

Such a sweet butterfly! Your poppies look so real - what a great buy. One of these days I'll have enough quilts to change out for the seasons. Your winter quilts look perfect for snuggling. Hot cocoa? Marshmallows? Winter has arrived here and I'm loving it. The sewing room is a quite cold these days and I need to find a heater that doesn't cost a small fortune to run. For now, I'm hanging out in the kitchen where the oven is on for baking.

What a beautiful butterfly quilt. Winter sure has arrived quickly this year. I'm glad I quilt as we should be warm enough.

Hi Lizzie,
Great poppies! They look so life like, I had to look twice to see if they were really the ones you were talking about!
Love, love, love that butterfly! (I made a patchwork butterfly once .... must see if I can find a photo of it.) You were one very lucky lady indeed, it's such a pretty butterfly, and gorgeous colours.
Lovely to see your quilts.
You certainly look ready for the cold weather! Keep warm!

Winter has a few things going for it.... more time to sew for one and hopefully a few good snow storms where you have to stay home and sew some more but after that the thought of winter and freezing temps doesn't excite me. If I didn't have twinkling lights at Christmas time and through January I don't think I could survive the dreary days of winter. Enjoy all things cozy it is the best part of winter !! Janita

Hi Leanne you quilts look amazing and yes that little butterfly mini is gorgeous. We are heading into summer her in the UK. This week it has rained every day so I have managed a few days of sewing in doors. X:)

Yes! I like winter. Also because it seems so cozy plus you don't have to do yard work! More time for sewing! We just got done with a record setting (in rain) winter here in Oregon and now we are getting more sun. Next week is supposed to be warmer - this week was in the 60s during the day - which is perfect IMHO. I really don't like hot weather. The butterfly quilt is lovely! Love the poppies. I recently got some poppy seeds from 3 lovely poppy plants which I will try to grow (I don't have much luck growing plants from seed, but maybe these will work.
