Around the garden

Hi there, not a lot of sewing going on around here lately because I have been  busy spending my time in the garden. This time of year is when I get my summer seeds planted and the vegetable garden started.

Poppies and Zinnias, my favourite flowers.
My vegetable garden is now doing well, all seeds have sprouted  so in a few weeks and months I hope to have some yummy carrots, cucumber, brussel sprouts, snow peas and pumpkins.
All my roses are so pretty, I love to cut them and bring them inside.

I did make some time to sew a sewing machine cover that I designed for a magazine a little while ago. I made this for a friend and gave it to her last Sunday. I do enjoy sewing for others.

Soon I'll  be digging out the Christmas decorations, can you believe Christmas is almost here.

Have a wonderful week. xx

Your garden is beautiful and really does show how much time you've been spending in it. I'm sure your friend was thrilled with her gift - the machine cover is lovely.

Oh, I really enjoy those flower pictures! Especially since we are heading into winter here. That's a really cute sewing machine cover! It's inspiring me to maybe get my new ironing board cover at least in the planning stages! :D

Hello Leanne, Your flowers are all looking so lovely. I don't think I have ever seen a prettier rose. Garden vegetables are always something to look forward too. It is hard to believe that 2 months have passed since you were here. It seems like everything should just be little sprouts. God has graciously given us some warmer temps so Ariann and I were able to get our tulip bulbs in the ground before it freezes. We planted around 300 bulbs! Tomorrow it will be nice again so hoping to finish the last of the outdoor cleaning up. Life has been just fleeting from one thing to the next here. Ariann had a good show and with the thought of resting and recouperating I was hoping to sew all day today.... but life called me to do other things that needed my attention. The bedrooms have already received a little Christmas Charm... I was glad for that today. It put some joy in my day. I worked so hard to get ready for Thanksgiving which we celebrated yesterday with a full house. One of my sisters came too with her family. It is too much for me to do Christmas decorating all in a short amount of time so last year I decided if it makes me happy to decorate early and creates less stress .... why fight it. I never heard anyone complain about some early twinkle : ). After everyone left yesterday Cassie and I turned off all the lights and sat with the twinkle with the lights and garland in the piano room and listed to Christmas music and then laughed at funny videos. It was a good end to a crazy day. Enjoy all the beauty of Summertime. Miss your smiling faces. Janita

Tassie is perfect for growing roses. Here in Sydney we battle heat and humidity but managed to cut and display a vase full the other week. The parsley bolted to seed and the basil is struggling. Finally had some rain. The sewing machine cover is rather pretty.

The big 5 0

Well its been a very fun week for me. Last Saturday I turned 50. It was a fun day of celebrations followed by a wonderful dinner with 30 ...
