Hanging quilts

I decided I wanted to hang this quilt of mine in the hallway, after alot of discussion with my husband about how to actually attach it to the wall we came to a compromise and here it is. We ended up putting in 2 cup hooks and placing the rod in each end. I'm still not happy with it so I'm trying to talk Paul into making me a shelf so I can hang the quilt from the bottom of it, How do you hang your quilts???? any ideas would be great.

The Dear Jane bug that is.... yes I have joined the many women in the world in making this quilt, so far I have made 1o blocks, every month at the patchwork shop where I work called Esme's we are going to have a Dear Jane class, hopefully we make at least one block before the class finishes. It should be good fun,

Happy Mothers Day

Its a very special mothers day for me, my beautiful boys and husband gave me the ultimate gift... my very own laptop. Whoo hoo. No more kicking the boys off the computer so I can get on. Its very exciting to say the least. jacob made me a beautiful card and wrote on it, thankyou for caring for me and Nicky made me a paper flower, it says inside thankyou for buying me treats. I thought that was gorgeous. They always seem to get treats. I hope all mums are having a wonderful day with their families.

More of Campania

This is what I worked on on Saturday, the theme for the day was cupcakes, I'm not sure what I'll make my square of stitching into, maybe a pot holder or something for the kitchen.
This is one of Helen Stubbings new designs, I love it and plan to buy the pattern when its released very soon.

This is another favourite of mine, I have started to make this quilt in very different colours from the original, as I progress I'll show you some photos.

This quilt is in Helen's new book, its stunning to see it close up. The colouring technique is so effective.

A day of sewing with friends

Yesterday at 7.30 am Marina and I headed off to Campania for a day of fun and sewing with the quilted crow girls Leonie and Deidre. It was their Autumn gathering and the 2 designers for the day were the delightful Helen Stubbings and Natalie Ross, both Ladies have some beautiful projects. These were my purchases for the day, I just loved the reproduction cowboy fabric, I have big plans for that little bundle.

This is one of Helen's new designs, its just gorgeous.

Lots of ladies busy sewing. I'll show you what I started tomorrow. It was such a good day and I can't wait for the next one in October.

Simply beautiful

Look at the gorgeous quilt. Its a Robyn Allan Waters design called French Collection. This quilt was made by Raylene who is a regular customer at the shop where I work, she has done a beautiful job then to finish it off it was custom quilted by Rebecca who used to work at Esme's but now lives in Queensland. I reckon I'm going to have to add this quilt to my wish list, I love it,

What a week

What did we ever do before computers I'll never know, My computer crashed on Wednesday and I was devastated. How could I do my blog and oh no I can't check my e-mails, After much consideration and a very sweet and understanding husband I got a new computer. My old one was not worth spending more money on it. Now I'm back in blog land and very happy.

I have had a busy week at work, Lillian has been sewing like mad to complete her Kittens Tale BOM, its looking beautiful so far.

I am about to start hand quilting my Miss Millies flower patch quilt, I'm so pleased to have nearly finished this quilt,

My trip to Melbourne

On Saturday my friends Cathy, Anna and myself headed off to Melbourne for the quilt convention, we had a great day together, shopping, talking and catching up with a few of our Tassie blogger friends. I even met Gail Pann who was just delightful,
These are a few reproduction fabrics I bought, I think I'll make a quilt for one of the boys, the blues and browns are beautiful together.

I want to make this quilt, This was on Natalie Birds stall, I loved the pink and reds.

More of Natalie's work, she was very kind and let me take a photo.

Melbourne buildings were very interesting, some very old and some very high.

I just have to stitch a butterfly in each corner. I'm so happy with my colours and I just love the burgandy border,
On Saturday I'm going to my first Australian quilt convention in Melbourne with my dear friends Cathy and Anna, the plane leaves at 7am so it will be an early start to the day, I can't wait. Only 4 more sleeps.

Another project underway

My new years resolution this year was to finish all the projects I have started so I am working through a few of them and making heaps of progress. I'm sure I'll start a few new ones along the way but thats half the fun of quilting don't you think. When we get new patterns come into the shop I say to Lillian oh I want to make that. I love my job. This pattern is Natalie Bird's design called From the Heart, I have used similar fabrics to the book and they are so pretty. 3 blocks down only 6 to go.
