Tadpoles and postcards

Yesterday I took the boys to find some tadpoles, I walk past this creek everyday going to work and I could hear the frogs so I thought surely there might be some tadpoles but alas... we couldn't find any, I think the water was too deep, maybe we'll try again next weekend. It wasn't a total waste of a day though I did get some good stitching done,

I am slowly getting my postcard quit together, I have 2 more to stitch then when I get my machine back from being serviced I'll be right to get sewing, I'm so happy with it so far, after having somany lovely friends stitch a card for me and write a messgae it has turned into a treasured friendship quilt. It reminds of how lucky I am to have such talented lovely friends.
While on the subject of post cards I wondered if anyone was interested in a fabric postcard swap with me, please leave a comment and we can work it out from there. I love to make postcards, they are fun and simple to make. Have a good week everyone.

I have been busy doing some stitcheries for a project for work, the top two are from Sally Giblin designs and the bottom ones are Rosalie Quinlan, Stay tuned for what will become of them. My sewing machine is in the shop for its service and I thought it was a good opportunity to catch up on some hand work. I hope you are having a good weekend.

Lots of fun

This morning the boys and I took advantage of some short lived sunshine and went for a bike ride, they rode and I walked. We went to the reserve just at the corner of our street, after so much rain yesterday there was lots to see. The boys climbed up the big rocks and headed to the lovely waterfalls.

This is the view from the top, it was such a pretty site, the water was so loud gushing down the stream. We spend alot of time here in summer having bbqs. I forget how lucky we are living in such a beautiful part of Tasmania. It wasn't long before the clouds got dark so we headed home for a much needed rest and drink and of course some sewing time for me.

Rain, Rain go away

It has been raining all day today. What is a girl to do when she's stuck inside, sew of course. Today I got my Quilt aid blocks out and started doing them. The fabrics are beautiful. I really enjoy working on a quilt when I just love the fabrics. This is my progress so far, I'm stitching Natalie Lymer's block and its very cute, little birdies sitting in their nest. Well time to start dinner so needles down for a short time.

Crazy hair day

Last week the boys had crazy hair day at school, it took me ages to get their hair all spikey then I sprayed orange hair spray in it. Not having any daughters made me realize just how busy some mum may be in the morning getting them ready for school, having to do their hair each day. I'm glad I've got boys,

A few days away

We have just come home from a lovely break in Hobart. It was nice to get away and spend time together as a family, On Friday I went to visit the girls at the quilted crow, I was there for ages, Leonie even made me a cup of tea, it was so nice sitting there chatting to them both about their shop and all the beautiful quilts they have on display. I didn't leave there empty handed I bought some fabric called Recess to go with my Sewing circle 1950s ladies, I think its perfectly with the 50s theme of the quilt,This morning we went to Salamanca market, we hadn't been there before so it was good to see. I bought this very cute tray and blackboard for my kitchen.

On the way back to the car I made the boys stand in front of the boats so I could take a few photos.

Its always nice to go away but just as nice to come home.
