Happy Easter

Happy easter to everyone, I hope you are all enjoying a break with your families. I am making the most of my 4 days off and catching up on a few projects that I wanted to get finished. I'm doing the happy dance as already I have finished 3 quilts. Thats quite an achievement for me. This is my Miss Millies quilt by Bronwyn hayes, I decided to hand quilt this one and boy did it take ages, I am very happy with it though and its well worth all that hard work,

All I need to do now is make a label.

Last week I had 2 rows to sew on my postcard quilt, well thats done now so its finished and ready to be quilted. I really don't know how I'll quilt this. I'm thinking doing a stipple or something simple around all the postcards. This is my most favourite quilt. I love it.

This morning I sewed the borders on this beauty, The applique is by Natalie Bird and the rest of the design is by me. I decided to make mine different than what Natalie did. I'm so pleased with the end result. What do you think? Did I do a good job?
Well thats all my show and tell for today, I will share more tomorrow. Hope easter bunny visits your house tonight.

My day off

I had a day off from work today and it was lovely, I spent the day sewing. I am working on putting my postcard quilt together, only one row to go which I hope Ican do over the weekend. This would have to be my most special quilt as most of the postcards have been stitched and signed by my dear friends. Some of you I know through blogs and others are my stitching buddies. I really can't thankyou all enough for helping me make such a wonderful quilt. Here are 2 blocks stitched by my friends Ruth from America and Sarah from here in Tassie. Two very talented ladies and wonderful friends .

I also finished my Laura's legacy mini quilt, it looks just perfect sitting on my old sewing machine. Ok Time to get dinner for my hungry boys, enjoy your day.

Shop samples

I'm so lucky to work in a patchwork shop. I get to see all the newest fabrics and patterns that come in. Often we make samples using a new range of fabric or testing out a new pattern.
Below is a block I did to go with a quilt I'm working on for the shop called Remember When by Libbly Richardson, its beautiful to do and the fabrics are so pretty. Customers love to see finished quilts, it often entices them to buy a kit for themselves or do a block of the month. This is a new bag that we have for sale, its not a sample but the real thing. Good for cat lovers.

These gorgeous elephants were made by Kim, she is a wizz at making soft toys. Aren't they just so cute. I can't quite remember who the pattern is by.

We had to have a Rouenerries elephant, this fabric is almost sold out now. Wait til you see Lillians new quilt she made using this range, its just stunning.

Here is Kim's latest creation, isn't he a hoot. If you'll pardon the pun.... Have a good weekend.

A weekend away

We have just come home from a lovely weekend away in Hobart, it was a great time had by us all. The reason we went was so hubby and 3 sons could go to the cricket last night. While they were gone I stayed behind in the cabin with just my stitching for company. It was wonderful. I got lots done. Hows this for a bed, I've never seen a triple bunk bed before, the boys thought it was pretty cool.
I love looking at this bridge, its so pretty as you get close then drive over it,

I found this magazine in the newsagent, I've been after it for ages. It has some beautiful blocks I want to make.

A trip to Hobart wouldn't be complete without a visit to The Quilted Crow. Deidre made me a cup of tea when I got there which was so nice. I bought these lovely fabrics. I loved the all over design fabric, full of pretty reproduction diamonds.

I found these fabrics at Big W, they are so nice and weren't very expensive. Now I just need to think of something to make with them. Have a good week everyone.

Busy Lizzie

Yesterday I had a good sewing day, the boys were back at school andI had the day off so there were no interuptions, I finally put my dresden blocks to good use and made a table runner. I'm going into work on Monday to quilt it. I'm so pleased with how it turned out, the Rounneries fabric range is just beautiful. I can 't wait for their new range Rural Jardin to get here, its coming in March.

I was looking on the internet last week at free quilt patterns and I came across a basket quilt, it was stunning so of course I had to start it. I have made 8 blocks already, only 20 more to go. What do you think? They are fun to make, Have a good weekend and I hope you get lots of sewing done. I know I will.

My new shelf

I had to share with you a picture of my new shelf my husband made me to hang my quilts, isn't it great. I can slide the rod out to change quilts. I have it hanging in the hallway above my sideboard and it makes the whole layout so cozy looking, I would like to change the quilts with the seasons. Do you remember the table runners I made a couple of months ago, well here is the big one all finished. I made it to fit the top of the sideboard and I'm so happy with the end result, Is't it good when your plans all work out.

Below is a new block of the month we are running, its called Remember when by Libby Richardson, I have done the first block which is very pretty. Look at the that pram isn't it just so sweet.

Rounneries fabrics by French General are so popular, we have sold alot already, The fabrics look so good together in a display. Lillian has made several projects with these yummy fabrics. Speaking of fabrics I'm off to do some sewing, have a nice weekend.

We've been to the beach

We had a wonderful break away, each day was busy at the beach watching the boys swim and ride the waves on their boogie boards. They had a ball. The weather was perfect, not too hot during the day and cool enough to sleep comfortable at night. I even found time or should I say made the time to do some sewing, I sewed the binding down on a few quilts that I had finished then did a bit of hand sewing on other projects. I was never bored thats for sure. Below is the beautiful view from where we stayed. Here is Nicky ready to catch a wave or two,

Nicky decided to bury Daniel in the sand, they had a good time.
Now we are home and back to our normal routine, only 3 weeks left of school holidays for the boys.

Here are 2 mini Laura Legacy quilts I finished while we were away, they are so sweet, they are about table runner size. I love reproduction fabrics so I really enjoyed making these. Have a nice weekend.

New projects

I am having so much fun being on holidays. Today I sewed the binding on 3 minature quilts and a big one. I'm going to the beach for 5 days on Saturday so I can sew these bindings down while away. I'm sure my husband will frown when he sees me quilting on our holidays, he said why don't I have a break from sewing, I just laughed at him. (I'llonly sew at night when we are tired from a fun packed day I promise honey). Anyway today I received this beautiful table runner from my friend Jody in America. It was really funny because I have been working with almost the exact same fabrics as she used in my gift. Beautiful pinks and brown reproductions. On the weekend I started another tumbler quilt, I have quite a few reproduction fat quarters in my stash waiting for a project so I thought its about time I used them, I still have 3 rows to put on then its done. They are so quick and fun to make,

With my scraps I had left from my pink and brown quilt I made in my previous post I made these cute little pin cushions, they look so sweet sitting on my old sewing machine. What do you make with your scraps? Happy sewing everyone.

I'm so pleased with this quilt, I used reproduction fabrics called Charleston. This quilt was in a magazine last year and I always wanted to make it, I just need to sew my binding down, I sewed it on today. I also cut out another tumbler quilt to start tomorrow, its going to be lovely. Happy sewing to you all,

Liffey falls day out

We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of Tasmania, yesterday we took our 3 boys to Liffey Falls which is only about a 45 minute drive from home, We had such a good day, here is Jacob standing in part of the waterfall, it was so pretty and the water was freezing. Of course I had to get in on the act and have my picture taken with such a pretty back ground.

I thought this scene was beautiful, I don't take a bad photo after all,

Here is Daniel and Nicky having a paddle, Daniel was trying to catch a fish, they were funny to watch, Daniel didn't realize how fast fish can swim. Today I'm catching up on a few things around the house then its back to the good stuff and doing some sewing. I'm loving being on holidays.

The big 5 0

Well its been a very fun week for me. Last Saturday I turned 50. It was a fun day of celebrations followed by a wonderful dinner with 30 ...
