It was a good Friday night for me in my sewing room, I started a new project. Its a free pattern by kate Spain on the moda fabrics web site. Its a beautiful pattern full of pieced blocks in Kate's beautiful fabric range Soliste.
I'm going to enjoy this pattern very much.
Speaking of patterns I am busy writing up my newest design. So much work goes into pattern writing, some times I really struggle but the more I design the better I will get ( I hope )
I had a very exciting day today. I taught my very first patch work class, I was a bit nervous to start with but the ladies in my class were just the nicest bunch. They soon made the butterflies disappear. Next week I'll take my camera and share some photos of their progress. It was a great day. I bought this lovely Layer cake by Sweet water. I want to make a few boy things which this fabric will be perfect for.
My on line Friends in stitching group does a birthday swap every year. We are always set a challenge and this year we had to make a black and white bag. I chose a pouch to make my partner, It turned out so well. I just made it up as I went.
So after a busy Friday night and Saturday I plan to take it easy tomorrow, do some baking and of course I'll fit in some sewing there somewhere.
If you would like to see what the other wonderful ladies did for Friday night sewing click here and click on their names. Youre bound to be very inspired.
Happy sewing.

Holiday news
I have had a wonderful week away on the Sunshine Coast visiting my parents. My sister lives in Cairns and she came down to see me and spend the week to with her little boy. We had a great time together, lots of shopping was done and plenty of talking into the wee hours of the morning. It was like being home when we were kids sharing a room. I found some fabulous shops in the area, I bought these rulers at a stationary shop, I thought they would look nice in my sewing room.
I found Spotlight so I had to check that out. I bought a few fat quarters including this recipe print. I thought it was really nice.
In Big W I found these pretties, so I had to buy them. now to think of something to make with them. A baby quilt might be on the cards.
We went to the best Homewares store , I found these lovely pieces and I just had to have them. I only had carry on luggage so I couldn't buy a real lot. Probably a good thing as there was plenty I wanted.
My beautiful boys gave me this Greengate Jug for mothers day today. I have a nice little collection and its slowly growing.
Here is a sneak peek at my newest design, coming to a magazine near you very soon. I'll let you know more details as time gets closer. Do you like it? I'm very happy how it turned out.
When I arrived home from Queensland late last night I had this baby waiting for me, I couldn't wait to look and touch it today. Miss Kate is a beautiful range, I can't wait to cut it up and start sewing.
So thats all my news for this week, I love going on holidays but I love coming home just as much, especially when I have my boys at home waiting for me.
Happy Mothers Day to all mums out there, I hope you had a wonderful day.
Until next time, Happy Quilting.

Friday Night sewing results
I was busy quilting last night , what did you all get up to? Hubby and the boys watched the footy so it was the perfect opportunity for some time in my sewing room. This project is for a magazine and its my newest design. I have loved making it.
I liked to add a touch of stitchery to my projects, I think it makes them more unique to me. Do you like it so far?
I wish I could show you more but as time gets closer I'll tell you more about it.
I think I showed you my new key fob before, it was a quick and fun project to make. I have lots more ideas for these babies.
I also framed my Nat Bird stitchery. I do love her designs.
I'm going on holiday for a week tomorrow to Queensland to visit my parents, I can't wait to get there and feel the warm sun. Its cold in Tassie now, we have the fire on most nights so I'll welcome the change. I am also really looking foreward to just going for a run each day on the beach. I get a bit bored going the same run at home.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
If you would like to see what else everyone was sewing last night click here and go to the list of names.

A few pretty things
Its been such a good weekend, I have my friend over from Western Australia for the week and we are having the best time. Today we went to the local market, I got lots of treasures. Look at these beautiful paper flowers, made from book pages and maps.
They are just stunning.
I have been looking everywhere for key fobs, finally found some on etsy, they came all the way from Portugal.
I bought this beautiful tray at the market today, it has tiles on the bottom and was a must have for the big price of $7. Quite the bargain I thought.
Autumn is in full swing here and the evenings are cold, we have the fire going most nights now. Perfect sewing weather isn't it. I have a few new designs in the works and I can't wait to share them with you,
Hope you all have a wonderful week and get some sewing time.

Happy Easter
Happy easter everyone, I hope you are having a nice break. I am certainly making the most of my 4 days off work. I have been sewing up a storm and working on my latest designs,
My good friend Nicky and I decided to do a little easter swap with each other. These are the gifts I made for Nicky. I love Buntings so I thought this mini easter bunting was just so cute, I love the little bunnies on the fabric which is from Bunny hill.
I had to make a bag to put Nicky's easter eggs in so I made this one with the same fabric, I think it turned out pretty well. Its actually a Gailk pan pattern but I changed the front.
Nicky's gift hasn't arrived yet but thats Ok, I'll have it next week I'm sure and I can enjoy easter a bit longer. Last Year Nicky made this cute little bunny so he is resting in my Greengate egg cup on my kitchen dresser.
Last week I went to Melbourne with my best buddies Cathy, Meredith, Alex and Kate. We went to the Quilt Fair and we had the best time even though Jetstar delayed our flights both ways. I found some beautiful Side walk fabric by Riley Blake that I had to have, you know when you see something and you think --- oh yes this is coming home with me, that how I felt when I saw this range. I haven't got a plan for it yet but thats Ok, I'll just enjoy looking at it for awhile.
Then I found some Tilda fabric and you know I felt the same way about this range so I had to buy that as well. We only had carry on luggage but I squeezed it in. In the evening we met up with our good friends Jan and Lorraine for dinner. It was a wonderful day.
Now the cold weather is upon us my husband bought us a fire for outside, why I'll never know as I won't be sitting out on the patio when its cold enough for a fire, Must be a man thing I reckon. It does look nice though so as long as he's happy, we all are. lol.
Enjoy the rest of easter and I hope you find some sewing time.

Friday night sewing report.
Last night was a good sewing session for me. I have started to put my Fat quarter shop mystery Block of the month quilt together, I have made 10 blocks and so far they have all been beautiful so I expect the last 2 to be just as nice.
This one looks tricky but it actually came together really well, I like it the best I think.
This one was fun to,
I started making the sashings for each block and the cute little 9 patch blocks that are the corner stones.
I can't wait to get it finished because i just signed up for the next mystery BOM, its all different blues and creams and just so pretty.
I'm going to see what everyone else got up last night, if you would like to see to go here and click on their names which will take you to their blogs.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sewing
Last week I shared with you what I made my partner for the Gail pan swap, well this week I would like to show you what I made. Isn't it just so cute. This gift was made for Lynda from our friends in stitching group.
A little carry bag with a matching needle case. It was so much to make and it didn't take very long. I finally cut into my tilda fabrics, no point having them there if I'm not going to use them .
Tonight I'm joining in Friday night with friends, go here and sign up if you would like to sew with us tonight.
Have a great day.

My newest design is in Homespun magazine.......
And I couldn't be happier, Here are my stamped pin cushions, made from Linen and some beautiful Happy go lucky fabrics. Of course I added a touch of embroidery, it wouldn't be a Lizzie The Quilter Design without it. I do love my stitchery.
Its a lovely photo shoot they did, My project looks really sweet in the basket of oranges don't you think?
This one was my favourite pin cushion. I do love buntings.
Remember last week I was showing bits of my Sew together bag, well its nearly finished and instead of doing the outside as one whole piece I made mine all patchy with lots of little bits. I dug into my box of Bonnie and Camille fabrics and picked out a few to make it look more like a mini quilt, the end result will be very pretty I hope, thats providing I make the last part without any problems, Bags aren't my strongest point thats for sure.
My photos have got a bit mixed up so this one is my new Tilda table runner, all sewn and ready to be quilted by the wonderful Sarah. Tilda fabric is so soft and pretty. I really love how this turned out.
Now back to my sew together bag, this is a photo of the inside, see the 3 separate compartments, well they are inside the bag. You will see it all finished very soon I hope then you will know what I'm talking about.
My good friend Sunny who lives in America asked me to make her a Tilda doll, now she has arrived at her destination I can share a photo, she was fun to make. I'm so pleased Sunny loves her as much as I do. Give her a little hug from time to time from me please Sunny.
So thats what I've been up to, another week has come and gone. Only 3 weeks to go until I go to Melbourne for the AQC. I really can't wait.
Have a wonderful week and I hope you find some sewing time.
